Today I…
Today I…
Remain within the
cold comfort(able)
age-spotted, witness-walls
of the monastery
both when within
and after slow-stepping
out (?)
For I know that
monazein, the word
for ‘live alone’ gave birth to ‘monastery.’
But monazein lived not alone;
It drew together ‘monos’
the all alone word ‘alone’
and formed a union with
the half-a-word or suffix
“-terion” which is
used to mean (double entendre intended)
a place for action.
and thus today I act alone
when within these walls
and when without these walls
I remain without,
I act alone
for I know, too that
‘Alone’ itself was once
All One.
